IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE ITS SECOND

SENIOR VOLUNTEER AWARDS

These awards recognize seniors who provide voluntary services to our community in the hope that it will inspire others to volunteer and serve as well. Our desire is to focus on what the older generation can do, not what they can’t do.

In order to qualify for this award, the candidate must be:

• 55 or older;
• Have voluntarily served the community in some aspect during the last year;
• Be nominated, either by himself/herself or by another;
• Must live and serve in Contra Costa County;
• Must describe the volunteer activities in 500 words or less and supply at least three references with their telephone numbers; and
• Must be present at the award ceremony to be held on the twenty fifth of October 2009 when the awards are announced.

The panel of judges will include members from Contra Costa for Every generation, Contra Costa’s Agency on Aging, local Senior Centers, and the Danville Weekly.

Each winner will receive a $250 cash prize and an award certificate.  Each winner will get the opportunity to share their volunteer work and services with the press, so as to foster greater awareness of how seniors can and do make a difference in our community.
