Recent studies have shown that Asian-American women have the highest suicide rate among women over age 65 and the second highest among women between age 15 to 24. in the U.S.
While suicide rates are disproportionately high among Asian-Americans, the mental-health services utilization rate is relatively low, reflecting a vast gap of need in this underserved population.
Cultural stigma, language barriers, and the shortage of bilingual and bicultural mental-health professionals contribute to this disparity by making early diagnosis and intervention difficult.
Culture to Culture Foundation was created to establish programs and services to eliminate this disparity. We work to reduce cultural stigma, increase mental-health education, and provide better access to culturally-appropriate mental-health treatment.
