9/11
Culture to Culture Foundation, in coordination with other community
organizations, sponsored a fundraising rally in San Francisco to promote
Chinese-American participation in helping fund America’s recovery
after the September 11 attacks.
Art Exhibition
With the help and support from various community agencies, including
Richmond Mental Health Clinic in Contra Costa County, Richmond Area
Multi-Services, Asian Pacific Psychological Services (APPS), Alliance
for Community Care, and the Asian Community Mental Health Services (ACMHS),
CAMHN had the opportunity to sponsor a Mental Health Art Exhibit during
the summer of 2003. We received 80 pieces of artwork from mental-health
recipients, families, and friends. The exhibit was displayed at the
Oakland Asian Library for two weeks in July 2003.
Chinese American Mental Health Helpline
For three years, the Chinese American Mental Health Network in partnership
with the Contra Costa Crisis Center provided a mental health and suicide
hotline for Chinese Americans. Staffed with bilingual Crisis Prevention
Counselors, the hotline was a successful program, and we plan to revisit
it in the future. A grant from the California Wellness Foundation funded
the hotline for its three years of operation. We will be taking the
data collected from this period, and use it to learn how to improve
the service in the future.
